Cellular Backup for VeraSecure

Your VeraSecure is an easy-to-install, comprehensive home controller/alarm hub. It’s like a security panel in a box. Just add sensors, cameras, and locks – choosing from dozens of brands – and VeraSecure does the rest. The optional cellular backup ensures that you are able to stay connected even when the internet connection is lost.

About Cellular Backup

• To provide continued protection even if your home's internet service goes out, your Vera Cellular Dongle Backup System is designed to automatically activate whenever your regular internet stops working for more than a few minutes.
• This cellular service is intended for backup use only, NOT as your controller's primary internet connection. When the Cellular Dongle is active, there are limits on your Vera system's functionality and data usage.

Home Control Functionality

• When your Vera Cellular Dongle provides internet connectivity, your Vera system will continue all home monitoring and security functions. However, you will have limited ability to change settings. Home control will be limited to changing Modes —  Home, Away, Night and Vacation. (You will not be able to make adjustments, or create scenes or change individual settings for lights, thermostats, and other devices.) As soon as your normal internet service is restored, full functionality of your Vera system will resume automatically.

Monthly Data Limit

Your Vera Cellular Dongle backup internet connection includes up to 5MB per month of data at no additional charge. This is more than enough for communicating sensor information (such as doors opening, glass break sensor, motion sensors, etc.) to you, or for changing modes, on an occasional basis (a few times each month.) However, if you use the cellular backup connection to view photos or video or for audio communications, you may exceed this limit. Your Vera system will send you warnings when you have used 80% and 90% of your monthly 5MB allowance. Your account will automatically be billed $4.95 for each additional 5MB of data.
