You can fix problems with your VeraSecure using the LED lights on your controller.
This guide will teach you:

VeraSecure LED's Operation
VeraSecure has nine LED lights: Power, Internet, Wi-Fi, Z-Wave, Service, Zigbee, Bluetooth, VeraLink, and Cellular. Below, you will find the meaning of each LED state:
Power LED
- On - Power On/Normal Operation
- Off - Power Off
- Flashing very fast - Firmware Upgrade
Internet LED
- On - Connected to the Ethernet
- Off - Ethernet is not connected
- Flashing slow - unit cannot connect to the internet
WiFi LED
- On - WiFi enabled
- Off - WiFi disabled
- Flashing very fast - WPS is active
Z-Wave LED
- On - Z-Wave function enabled
- Off - Z-Wave function disabled
- Flashing slow - Include mode
- Flashing fast - Exclude mode
Service LED
- On - Cloud Service connected and working properly
- Off - No Cloud Service installed
- Flashing slow - Cloud Service is not sending data properly
ZigBee LED
- On - Z-Wave function enabled
- Off - Z-Wave function disabled
- Flashing slow - Include mode
- Flashing fast - Zigbee device was successfully included
Bluetooth LED
- On - Z-Wave function enabled
- Off - Z-Wave function disabled
- Flashing slow - Unit is in scan mode
- Flashing fast - Unit is in pairing mode
- Flashing very fast - Bluetooth device was successfully paired
VeraLink LED
- On - VeraLink function enabled
- Off - VeraLink function disabled
- Flashing slow - Unit is in Pairing Mode
- Flashing fast - Unit is in Pairing mode
- Flashing very fast - VeraLink device was successfully included
Cellular LED
- On - Backup Cellular connection is active and on standby
- Off - Backup Cellular connection is inactive
- Flashing slow - Backup Cellular connection has issues connecting
VeraSecure Button Operation
VeraSecure has three buttons which can be used to reset the unit, include or exclude Z-Wave and ZigBee devices, and pair networked devices over WPS.
The recessed Reset button has three functions:
- To reset the network settings, press the button 3 times within 6 seconds
- To reset it to factory defaults, press the button 6 times within 6 seconds
- To perform a shutdown or power cycle, press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds, and then remove the power cord
The Sync button is used as a confirmation button when switching between the wireless modes.
The Select button is used to toggle between the 4 available radios of the controller.
Once it is pressed, it will show which service to use by blinking the corresponding LED light:
- When the Select button is pressed once, the Wi-Fi LED will start blinking to indicate that the WPS feature can be selected. Pressing the Sync button will start the 2 minutes WPS countdown
- When the Select button is pressed two times, the Z-Wave LED light will start blinking to indicate that the Z-Wave include or exclude option can be selected; to include devices, press the Sync button once; to exclude devices, press the Sync button for 3 seconds; it will timeout after 5 minutes
- When the Select button is pressed three times, the ZigBee LED light will start blinking to indicate that the ZigBee pair option can be selected; pressing the Sync button will start the ZigBee pairing mode; it will timeout after 2 minutes
- Press the Select button for 3 seconds to exit the selection mode.
Troubleshooting the VeraSecure LED Lights
Service light is blinking:
When the Service LED light is blinking, it means that the unit has trouble establishing a connection with the cloud servers.
- The status of the cloud servers and any ongoing maintenance can be checked at https://status.getvera.com/
- If no incident is reported on the status page, don’t hesitate to contact Customer Care
Z-Wave light is turned off
When the Z-Wave LED light is turned off for more than a few minutes, it means Vera's operating system is malfunctioning. Follow these steps to fix the problem:
- Power-cycle the controller; if the light becomes solid, you are good to go
- If the problem persists, first reset the controller to factory defaults, access the UI, and restore the controller from the last backup
- If the problem persists, contact Customer Care
Internet light is off
When the internet light is off, it means the Internet cable is disconnected or interrupted make sure the internet cable is connected to an Internet source and/or try a different Ethernet patch cord.
Internet light is blinking once a second
When the Internet light is blinking once a second, it means the Ethernet cable is connected and has a link but is not getting an IP from the router or your network equipment. Make sure the main router has DHCP server enabled.
Cellular light is blinking once a second
When the cellular light is blinking once a second, it means the Backup Cellular connection has issues connecting and cannot connect to the mobile carrier. Make sure you have an active VeraProtect plan and that your Vera device is positioned in a place where it has enough coverage.
