Scenes: Editing an Existing Scene
Scenes are powerful. They can be constantly improved by editing them and adding different functions, such as triggers, delayed actions, and much more.
This guide will teach you how to:
- Edit the triggers
- Add a second device trigger

Editing the existing Triggers
Suppose you wish to change the device trigger event "Whenever Smoke Sensor is armed and detects smoke" to "Battery level goes below."
- Click the editing pen icon next to the scene "Smoke Detection"
2. Click on the edit icon next to "Step 1: Select a Trigger"
3. Click the editing pen icon next to the "Device Trigger"
4. Select the event "Battery level goes below" fill in the "Level" input, and press "Validate"
5. The trigger will be immediately updated
Add a second Device Trigger
Suppose you need to select two events for the smoke sensor device trigger:
- The initial "Battery level goes below" event
- The additional "Whenever Smoke Sensor is armed and detects smoke" event
- Click the editing pen icon next to the scene "Smoke Detection," and then click on the edit icon next to "Step 1: Select a Trigger".
- Click on "Add another trigger"
3. Choose the "Device" option and click on "Select a device..."
4. Next, select the Smoke Sensor from the list of paired devices
5. Check the option "Whenever Smoke Sensor is armed and detects smoke" and press "Validate"
6. The new device trigger will be displayed below the existing one. Go to Scenes: a general overview to learn more about triggers
Edit Device Actions
Suppose you want to turn the wall plug off
- Click the editing pen icon next to the scene "Smoke Detection," and click on the editing pen next to "Step 2: Device Actions".
2. Next, click on the existing immediate action (Immediately Power Switch Off)
3. Select the Wall Plug from the list of devices and press "Next"
4. Turn the Wall Plug to off and press "Validate"
5. The list of actions should be similar to the one in the image below
6. Click on "Next Step," update the name of the scene, and press "Finish"
Add another Device Action
Suppose you want to arm the CO Detector
- Click the editing pen icon next to the scene "Smoke Detection," and click the edit icon next to "Step 2: Device Actions"
2. Click on "Add delayed action"
3. To add an immediate action, press "Immediately", and then "Validate"
4. Choose the CO Detector from the list, and press "Next"
5. Arm the sensor, and press "Validate"
6. You will be redirected back to the actions list
7. To update the name of the scene, click on "Next Step," and press "Finish"
Add another Scheduled Trigger
The following paragraphs refer to the scene "Start recording when Away" in which we will add a second Scheduled trigger.
It's possible to add multiple triggers to the same scene. Suppose you wanted to add a device trigger for the smoke sensor and the CO Detector
- Click the editing pen next to the scene "Start recording when away" in the overview page, and then click the edit icon next to "Step 1: Select a Trigger"
2. Click on "Add another trigger"
3. Choose the "Device" option and click on "Select a device..."
4. Select the "CO Detector" from the list
5. Check of the event "Whenever CO Detector is armed and detects smoke" and press "Validate"
6. Repeat the process for the Smoke Sensor and choose the event "Whenever Smoke Sensor is armed and detects smoke;" the new device triggers should be displayed like in the image below
Edit the existing Schedule Trigger
- To change the initial "Daily at 08:00 AM" Schedule Trigger, click the editing pen next to it
2. In order for the scene to run every [X] seconds/minutes/hours, choose the "Interval" scheduler
3. To select a moment of the day, choose the "Daily" scheduler, and then select one of the available predefined moments:
- Sunrise
- Before Sunrise
- After Sunrise
- Sunset
- Before Sunset
- After Sunset
4. Similarly, in order for the scene to run in specific days of the week or of the month, choose the "Weekly" option
5. You can also choose the "Monthly" schedule. Both have the predefined moments of the day from the "Daily" scheduler.
6. You can also have a scene that runs only once, at a given date and time.
7. Whatever you choose, do not forget to press "Validate" and then "Finish"
Edit Actions
Edit the existing camera action
Supposing you also want the CO Detector to be armed as soon as the camera starts to record.
- Click the editing pen icon next to the scene "Start recording when away" and click on the edit icon next to "Step 2: Device Actions"
2. Click on the existing camera action
3. Select the CO Detector from the list of devices and click "Next"
4. Arm the device and press "Validate"
5. The updated action should be similar to the one in the image below
Add a Delayed Action
- If the CO Detector should be armed 10 minutes after the camera starts recording, click the editing pen icon next to the scene "Start recording when away," and then click both the edit icon next to "Step 2: Device Actions" and on "Add delayed action"
2. Check the "Wait for..." option, select 10 minutes, and press "Validate"
3. Choose the CO Detector from the list and press "Next"
4. Arm the sensor and hit "Validate"
5. The new delayed action will be displayed above the initial immediate action
